Hole, Barenaked Ladies And More To Play KROQ Concert, WHFS Show Hacked

KROQ radio in Los Angeles has announced the line-up for their 9th annual Acoustic Christmas benefit set for December 11 and 12, this year at the Shrine Auditorium.

The first night sees headliner Hole joined by Barenaked Ladies, Blink 182, the Cardigans, Korn, the Offspring, Reel Big Fish and Sugar Ray. The second of the two nights features a solo appearance by Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan along with Depeche Mode, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Cake, Everlast, Garbage, Goo Goo Dolls, Semisonic and Soul Coughing.

The proceeds are being donated to local charities to support children and the homeless.

Meanwhile, the "Washington Post" reports that DC radio station WHFS's Christmas concert has been hit by a computer hacker. The culprit gained entry to the station's e-mail list server late the previous Friday (November 20) and used DJ Billy Zero's email address to send messages to the 20,000 subscribers signed up for news updates saying that the show had been canceled.

The December 5 event, dubbed the "HFSmas Holiday Nutcracker," features Hole, Cake and Garbage. The 7,000 tickets put on sale had been snapped up in just 24 minutes.

Zero, a.k.a. Bill Gallagher, told the paper he knew something was wrong Monday morning when he signed on and was greeted with emails from 4,000 distressed ticketholders. He eventually figured out the problem and sent a correction and an explanation to the list, but not before word of the cancellation had spread around the Internet.

The station traced the hacker, but Gallagher told the "Post" the station won't be pressing charges.
