B-52's Debut New Material In Club Warm-Up Gig

The recently reunited '80s new wave outfit the B-52's played it first club gig in ten years recently in New York as a warm up for the band's upcoming tour with the Pretenders.

The group took to New York's Elbow Room and rolled out a slew of hits from throughout its career, but fans were also treated to two new tracks that will turn up on an upcoming "best of" collection called "Time Capsule: Songs For A Future Generation." In addition to the familiar strains of "Rock Lobster" and "Love Shack," the band debuted [article id="1438608"]"Hallucinating Pluto" [600k QuickTime][/article] and "Debbie," a song that the B-52's penned for Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry.

"It's interesting, because when we sequenced the record, it starts out with 'Planet Claire' and it ends with 'Hallucinating Pluto,'" B-52s guitarist/keyboardist Keith Strickland recently told MTV News of about fitting the new songs next to the band's body

of work on the retrospective. "It's almost like full circle because I think the sound on 'Hallucinating Pluto,' it just has a feel that reminds me a lot of our original first batch of songs. So it's interesting how it just fit right in.

As we first reported last month (see [article id="1425088"]"B-52's Announce Dates For Summer Tour"[/article]), the band will kick off a summer tour with the Pretenders on July 18 in Holmdel, New Jersey (for a full itinerary, see our previous report).
