An hour after Al Gore conceded the presidential election to George Bush, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers comforted the vice president with a performance at his Washington, D.C., home that included Petty's "I Won't Back Down" (RealAudio excerpt).

Jon Bon Jovi accompanied Petty on vocals, Blues Traveler frontman John Popper contributed harmonica and Tipper Gore played percussion during the hour-long performance. Stevie Wonder joined in for a song later in the show.

Petty, Bon Jovi and Popper are in Washington to tape the TNT special "A Very Special Christmas From Washington, D.C.," which will air December 19. The concert is the second featuring artists who contributed songs to the "A Very Special Christmas" series of benefit albums.

Sales of the albums have raised more than $65 million for Special Olympics programs around the world.
