John Fogerty Plans Nine U.S. Shows

Former Creedence Clearwater Revival leader to perform with Aaron Neville, Dr. John.

Former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty will kick off a nine-stop tour Aug. 5 in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The classic roots rocker, currently supporting Tina Turner on her European tour, will skip quickly up the East Coast and then across the United States for two final shows in California.

The series of concerts, called "Destination: New Orleans," will also feature guest appearances from crooner Aaron Neville and multi-instrumentalist Dr. John, according to the venues hosting the concerts.

As the leader of the popular late-'60s band CCR, Fogerty penned a string of hits including "Proud Mary" (RealAudio excerpt) — covered with considerable success by Tina and Ike Turner — and "Fortunate Son." Fogerty's distinct, nasal voice marked all CCR's songs.

Though the singer's solo career peaked in 1984 with the release of the chart-topping Centerfield and the song of the same name, Fogerty released Premonition in 1998. The live album, from a performance on his 1997 tour, earned the singer a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album.
