Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise will kick off a monthlong tour Wednesday (June 28) behind their current album, Time To Discover, and single, the soulful ballad "Baby."

The band — which features a blind, 50-year-old, African-American former street-singer fronting a group of 30-ish white rockers — opens its tour in San Francisco, where it plays Slim's, a club, and the first of a string of private events.

After six dates in the West, including a Fourth of July performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, the group heads to the Midwest and East, before returning to Colorado and then wrapping the tour July 29 in Illinois.

Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise spent more than two and a half years touring after the release of their eponymous debut in 1996.

Frontman Robert Bradley and bassist Andrew Nehra, 28, said concert-goers should expect the unexpected in their show.

"You might see some nude dancing girls or some nude dancing guys, 'cause it is the Blackwater Surprise," Bradley said. "We don't know what you might see [at a show], but one thing is for sure: You will hear some good music, and you'll see some guys that are putting their total heart and soul into it."

"We're not at the point where we have these huge productions and these huge budgets to spend on our show," Nehra said, "so it basically comes down to the music. When we're onstage, it's more of a spiritual thing, where we can feel it."

Time To Discover includes the song "Tramp 2" (RealAudio excerpt), which features rapper Kid Rock.
