About Wrecking Crew

A Chicago band that was formed by the rhythm section of the Staple Singers in 1977, the Wrecking Crew didn't have a lengthy career. Vocalists Nicholas Toler Williams, Jack Chatman, and Timothy Terrell Austin doubled as lead guitarist, bassist, and drummer respectively. They were joined by trumpeter and trombonist Bridget Paig, saxophonist Michael Jackson, trombonist and trumpeter Mark Rogers, keyboardist Anthony Space, guitarist Wilbert Anderson Crosby, and lead vocalist Michael Avery. They had a couple of singles for Ercet and Sound of Florida respectively, but each fizzled in 1983. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi
