Hailing from South Korea, the Wonder Girls (Yenny, Yubin, Sun, Sohee, Lim) are quickly becoming stars in the Western World. As the first Korean act to have a song enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Wonder Girls have already opened for two of today’s hottest musical acts: opening more than 50 North American shows for the Jonas Brothers and supporting Justin Bieber. The Wonder Girls’ “Nobody” entered Billboard’s Hot 100 in October 2009: the song became an international phenomenon and the accompanying dance was done all over the world, as is evident by countless YouTube videos. Since then, the Wonder Girls have appeared on Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and have graced the pages of Interview, Paper, Teen Vogue and the New York Times. 2010 saw the Wonder Girls take on their first North American tour, which hit 20 cities in the U.S. and Canada. On February 2nd, 2012, the group premiered their feature film “The Wonder Girls” on TeenNick. The film, which chronicles the K-pop act’s adventures as they prepare for their U.S. debut, also includes appearances by Nick Cannon, also the film’s Executive Producer, and singer Angie Stone. Most recently, the group was nominated in the “Favorite Asian Act” category at the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards. In July of 2012, the Wonder Girls released the highly anticipated single “Like Money” featuring Akon, and their debut English language album is due out in late 2012.
