When he wasn't serving as one half of the Casio-core duo Sukpatch, Chris Heidman devoted his time to a variety of side projects, among them UltraChorus. Like Sukpatch, UltraChorus are an indie pop duo with a computerized edge; making liberal use of slick synthesized instruments and Auto-Tune, UltraChorus' danceable pop tunes give a nod to Frankmusik and Hot Chip. Heidman teamed up with fellow producer Jeff Lorentzen to form UltraChorus in 2007. The duo soon self-released a vinyl single, "Words Keep Talking"; the single was followed by a handful of remixes, including a remix of Phoenix's "1901" that garnered a bit of buzz in the blogosphere. UltraChorus launched their own label, SoTM, that summer, and the duo's debut full-length on that label, Ultra-Def, was slated for release in the fall. ~ Margaret Reges, Rovi
