About Pete Bellotte

Love him or hate him for it, but British producer Pete Bellotte is one-third of the trio largely responsible for the wide sweeping success of the '70s disco movement. As Giorgio Moroder's right-hand man, Bellotte produced every Donna Summer track recorded from 1976 through 1980, including "Love to Love You Baby," "Heaven Knows," and "Last Dance," among scores of others. Much more than the Bee Gees, the heavily orchestrated, throbbing hit singles produced by Bellotte were the virtual blueprint for disco music. But as the old saying goes, live by the sword, die by the sword, and as disco dwindled and eventually petered out so did Bellotte's prosperous career. ~ Steve Kurutz, Rovi
