Natureboy is the musical project of Sara Kermanshahi. The project continues her musical collaboration with Cedar Apffel (Masterface/ House on A Hill) who produced her records. Starkly emotional and strangely evocative, her music weaves modern loops and samples with folk elements to create a haunting synthesis of moody, intelligent, melodic music. Natureboy will appeal to fans of Mazzy Star, Beach House, Cat Power, and Bon Iver. A former member of Seattle's House On A Hill, Sara created Natureboy upon moving to Brooklyn in 2007. Natureboy is quickly gaining a fan base of loyal and excited listeners. She's been playing a steady stream of gigs in New York, Chicago and Boston sharing the stage with a number of esteemed artists such as Cate Le Bon, Magnolia Electric Co., Mirel Wagner, Laura Gibson, School of Seven Bells, Tiny Vipers, Sharon Van Etten, and Marissa Nadler. The band embarked on a 15 date European tour in late 2010, playing cities such as Paris, Berlin, and Copenhagen. Natureboy's live performances are as captivating as her recorded music. Onstage, Sara closes her eyes, curls up her toes, and gives herself completely to the music. Her unique, natural vocal style and skillful guitar playing feels vulnerable and almost threatening. The band builds on the power of her sound with tastefully-woven waves of guitar, synth, bass, and drums. Natureboy's music has been featured on Brooklyn Vegan, in Esopus magazine, on KEXP, KCRW featured the band as an "Artist You Should Know," RCRD LBL and was recorded live by NYC Taper. Sara recorded a Daytrotter Session this summer. The debut album was included on many best of 2009 lists including Kevchino.com, The Sky Report, and Musicology NYC. She has also been featured in a number of publications like Deli, Wears The Trousers, Largehearted Boy, Vivoscene, The Wounded Jukebox and Performer.
