Knox Chandler is mostly known as a session guitarist and cellist, he has worked with such acts as Depeche Mode (he also collaborated with Dave Gahan on his solo album Paper Monsters),Lori Carson, The Golden Palominos,The Psychedelic Furs, Ultra Vivid Scene, The Creatures and R.E.M.. He was also the touring guitarist for Siouxsie and the Banshees' 2002 "Seven Year Itch" tour. In the early to mid-1970s, Chandler attended the Hammonasset School in Madison, Connecticut, a private open-door policy high school focusing on music and performing and visual arts. Chandler attended Bard College in the late 1970s. He was generally regarded as a brilliant musician who was hardworking and willing to experiment. In addition to his formal study of music within the division of AMDDFP (Art Music Drama Dance Film and Photography) he collaborated with a variety of people, from distinguished visiting professors to local artists. After graduating from Bard, Chandler's professional career took off. Later tours with Cyndi Lauper and Lou Reed reflected his importance in the world of pop art.
