About James Michael
Recently Michael expanded upon his role as producer, songwriter, mixer and Sixx:AM frontman to deliver the new solo single and video “Learn To Hate You.” He describes this as long overdue follow-up to his debut album Inhale (2000). “It’s been non-stop writing and producing for other artists but I always had these ideas and melodies going through my head that weren’t connected to other projects or even my own band. Fans kept asking about another solo project and that's when it hit me,” says Michael. “I had to vent this personal creativity and get it out there for my fans, they crave musical diversity just like I do!”
Michael is co-founder (along with Nikki Sixx) and lead singer of the rock band Sixx:AM. The band’s debut album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack, produced by Michael, was on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart for 26 consecutive weeks and featured the No.1 rock track of 2008 and gold-selling single "Life Is Beautiful." He also co-wrote and handled production for the band’s sophomore album, This Is Gonna Hurt, which debuted at #10 on the Billboard Hot 200 and its first track, “Lies Of The Beautiful People,” went No. 1 at Active Rock radio.
After wrapping up This Is Gonna Hurt, James Michael produced and co-wrote Papa Roach’s acclaimed new album, The Connection, which debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 200 album chart. Other recent projects include writing a track for the Kelly Clarkson Greatest Hits project, mixing Hinder’s new album Welcome to the Freak Show and writing with and contributing vocals for Halestorm. He produced, mixed and co-wrote Mötley Crüe's last studio album Saints Of Los Angeles album that debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.
He is currently writing and producing the sophomore album for American Idol finalist, James Durbin; developing new artist SHAHNAZ, and soon Michael will head back into the studio with Sixx to begin work on the next album from Sixx:AM.
