2000 was the year that saw the coming together of two halves of a whole. 2 people that made an instant connection through their musical preference and love of all things off centre. With a belief in the disruption of the accepted normalcy of musical expression in the modern age, what would become ICU was born. Over the years, several ups and downs, hangovers, name changes and break ups tempered and molded their style. Heavy-hitting and composed with unhealthy doses of menace and mayhem that is terrifying yet beautiful. Thundering yet serene. Evocative of hellish imagery and delicate sorrow and punctuated with moments of unlikely sensitivity that ebbs and flows like a tide. ICU is like classical music composed by a demonic android from a science-fiction horror story. After an extended hiatus that saw one half of the duo move his base of operations to the east coast of Australia while the other stayed based in the west, the collaboration was reignited via the application of technology and a fresh drive to share what they have created. The duo took to transferring files via file sharing networks and surprisingly encountered very few limitations. 4000km didn’t seem to matter at all. No one would become precious. Everything was open to evolution. And what was created would only serve itself. This is ICU.
