Motta's songs have been performed in concerts and cabarets in New York, San Francisco, and Philadelphia during years when he was also staging productions for the Houston Grand Opera, the Washington Opera, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and the Metropolitan Opera. Only after testing positive for HIV in 1987 did he devote himself full-time to recording and performing his music in solo concerts and AIDS benefits, and began an effort to ensure that his songs would be preserved and performed. ~ Will Grega, Rovi
