About Gentle Readers

Formed out of Atlanta, Georgia in 1991 after guitarists/ vocalists Susan Fitzsimmons and Lee Cuthbert jumped ship from Indianapolis. With the accompaniment of Linda Bolley (drums/vocals) and Greg Partridge (bass) soon after, The Gentle Readers came about with their style of alternative rock, pop and folk for the next five years before self-releasing their first album It's a Sexy Life in 1996. With lots of comparisons to REM, Cowboy Junkies, Tom Petty, and the Feelies among others, their follow-up You in Black and White came out in 1998 with the funding support from Flat Earth Records. Hihoney followed two years later. ~ Mike DaRonco, Rovi
