Though Gene Farris is one in the new school of Chicago DJ/producers, his sound looks back to disco and funk even more than the requisite house sound of the Windy City. He recorded singles for Cajmere's Cajual/Relief and European labels Force Inc. and Soma before his debut album Fruity Green appeared in 1997 on Force Inc.
