An Equinox is an occurrence that takes place just a couple of times out of the year where night and day are at equal length; a powerful balance that leaves quite the impression on the world. To leave an immediate & long lasting imprint is the goal that the band Equinoxx had in mind when the band name was chosen. Band member Ian Rico formed Equinoxx in the fall of 2011, but with a couple of set-backs along with band member changes, the momentum that the band was gaining was lost. Hailing from Los Angeles, Equinoxx consists of band members, Mike Godoy-Vocals, Ian Rico-Guitar, Andrew Bushong-Bass/Guitar & Cedric Anderson-Drums. Equinoxx seamlessly blends rock, metal, blues & alternative music in a unique way that defines their own style. Citing musical influences including Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Deep Purple, Alice in Chains & Iron Maiden just to name a few, Equinoxx is ready to make their mark in the music industry. Ian Rico recalls deciding to pursue music at age 16 after reading the biography for Jimi Hendrix. Ian started playing locally with other bands until he turned 20 & decided to form his own band upon the advice of his parents. In the initial band that Ian formed he was the vocalist, but after linking up with Mikey Godoy on the website bandmix.com; he knew he was on track to put together a band that could go all the way to the top of the music industry with hard work & determination.
Equinoxx blends the old with new in a mashed up musical format that creates a sound & style that stands out. The single “Free” from the upcoming EP that Equinoxx is finishing up lures you in with a slow melody that elevates and builds up to a level of pure rock that pays homage to rock legends of the past. In demonstrating a range of their versatility, Equinoxx switches things up with the bold & sexy single titled “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” which displays a sensual echoing voice that pulls you in to hear more. “Winter Night” is a single that won’t disappoint the crowd in the club or bar with its edgy uptempo music & the strong vocals of Mike Godoy that will get anyone out of their seat. Equinoxx introduced a fourth single “Bury My Shame” that gives Cedric Anderson the drummer a solo showcase before the vocals kick in. Mikey Godoy’s soulful vocals match the bands energizing music and neither places limitations on Equinoxx’s ability to switch up their sound from metal to creatively blurring the lines between blues & rock. Equinoxx plans to release their debut EP in the fall of 2013. For those who can’t wait for the release of the EP, Equinoxx performs live at various venues around Southern California & are looking to go on tour soon. Equinoxx is looking to get signed or seeking investors for major independent release and also wants to develop as musicians in their showmanship & music in general. Equinoxx is striving for staying power over here today & forgotten tomorrow which seems to be a trend happening in the music industry in recent years.
