A recent graduate of NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, Daniel "DB2" Bazan, Jr. is the new definition of "multi-threat" in the music business.
Composer, producer, artist, and performer are just some of the hats that this future music mogul wears. Born in Queens, and raised in the Dominican Republic, DB2 picked up his first instrument, the piano, at age 11. DB2 started playing music in local churches, cultural centers, and school choirs. After shining bright amongst his peers, DB2 honed his craft, and progressed his music education by studying jazz formally in New York, slaying state-wide music competitions, and even performing for Mayor Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion. While writing, recording, and performing, DB2 captured the attention of Swizz Beatz, who mentored him briefly.
DB2 has been profiled by The New York Times during a visit to Converse Rubber Tracks, and by JAY Z's Life+Times, while producing and recording a live string-quartet. Tastemaker music destinations like Okayplayer and Saint Heron have gravitated towards DB2's music as well, presenting him with great reviews and features. Primetime television on music channels like VH1 and MTV is another great platform for fans to discover DB2's music.
DB2 has played live with his band all over New York, performing in venues such as SOBs, Rockwood Music Hall, and Brooklyn Bowl. Live music director is another role that comes natural to DB2, as he prepares his band for upcoming shows and tours.
