Living less than a quarter of a mile apart all their young lives in the small town of North Haven, Connecticut, *AUDRA* and Pat Walsh began playing music together at age 10. What began as brief jam sessions grew into daylong affairs before the two officially formed a band in the winter of 2004.
Inspired by music legends including Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and The Doors, *AUDRA* wrote her first song when she was 13. Channeling a modern day Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, *AUDRA* plays appealingly straightforward, if moody, melodies, often focusing on ex-boyfriends and heartbreak with lyrics that are both honest and infectious. *AUDRA*’s partner, Pat, is a guitarist first. Influenced today by albums such as David Bowie’s Hunky Dory, My Morning Jacket’s Z, and Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs, Pat’s sound is an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, and instrumental precision. His weeping guitar is one of the most unforgettable forces throughout their music.
Together, *AUDRA* and Pat have formed Chaser Eight in order to satisfy their need to play and create for the masses. Fitting squarely into the traditions forged by the musical influences of their past and present, their sound is a tapestry of catchy vocal melodies and mesmerizing guitar hooks woven together by pure emotion, as illustrated in their debut album, Late Night Companions EP, which was released in August of 2012. And whether it be *AUDRA *’s unmistakable 70s-style singing voice, the recurring 80s pop synthesizer, or the lighthearted whistling; their music truly has all the elements to make them memorable and lasting.
Chaser Eight released a new EP called Up and Up on February 26th, 2013. Inspired by the ever-changing atmosphere of their lives and the lives around them, it is available to download on their website www.chasereight.com.
