About Angela Fontana
Born in Lima, Peru, Angela grew up with the Latin sounds of her homeland. However her background gave her the added influence of afro Peruvian rhythms, bolero and vallenato – all mixed together with the jazz sounds which have been the backbone of her musical education.
Having studied Jazz Vocals at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, Angela quickly built a reputation and she joined a number of different bands and groups with whom she performed across the city. These small club appearances quickly grew to include jazz festival gigs and finally, emigration to the Netherlands where she has now made her home.
Angela made her first foray into the music scene when she released her first album “Como Soy” in 2009. With 10 songs, all with the Peruvian influence of her childhood, the album was a success in her homeland and had a worldwide release. Angela is especially proud to see her album on the shelves of her beloved homeland where she has formed a close bond with her followers.
The album was promoted with a concert tour of Europe and the Netherlands, offering fans a chance to see Angela perform her songs and where she was able to display her love of the music.
2013 was the year when Angela could finally see her hard work taking shape and she was able to bring out a self-penned EP with 5 songs. The EP was produced by Andres Levin, the Venezuelan Grammy award winning producer and is a mix of Latin sounds, pop, blues and jazz. Sung in Spanish, the infectious rhythms work in harmony with Angela’s voice – creating a modern sound which is both unique and beautiful.
