She has covered artists like Chuck Berry (for whom she was a former opening act), Jack Peñate, The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons and others in some of her online releases. Alex's 2010 single, "Choice Notes", is the background music to the European and UK advertisement for the Hyundai ix20 and TK Maxx. Also, Alex's 2011 song "Velvet Elvis" is the background music to the Google Chrome advert entitled Julie Deane. Winston played a set at Bestival 2011 on the Sailor Jerry's stage. She has also been filmed by the YouTube channel "watchlistentell" and has performed "Choice Notes" with the "Sister Wives". Record label edit: The New York based independent record label Heavy Roc Music took on Winston in 2009. This was followed by The Basement Covers EP, which was released as a free download. Two singles, "Choice Notes" (2010) and "Locomotive" (2011) were released and a music video was made for the latter. These two songs would later appear on the Sister Wife EP, released in February 2011. In early 2011, Winston signed with Island Records, and subsequently released her debut album "King Con"
