AJ Rafael (born March 12, 1989) is an American musician of Filipino descent and Internet celebrity. Originating from Moreno Valley, California, United States he is best known for his original songs such as "When We Say" and "We Could Happen".
In 2005, AJ Rafael auditioned for American Idol, but never progressed to the later stages.
After American Idol, AJ started posting on YouTube in 2006, and has since gotten over 500,000 subscribers and over 106,000,000 hits. Some of his influences include Sara Bareilles, Jason Mraz, MYMP, The Beatles, John Legend, and Bob Marley. In 2011, he was nominated to be a part of Billboard's Battle of the Bands alongside Gentlemen Hall, Otenki, Hotels, Lightning Love, and Side by Side.
Charity "Music Speaks"
AJ is heavily involved in the charity Music Speaks and has run an annual autism benefit concert since 2006. Every year, Music Speaks has donated revenues to the nonprofit organization Autism Speaks. Performers for these concerts include Jennifer Chung, Quest Crew, JR Aquino, and Mike Isberto.
