Lil Wayne Has 'No Worries' At 2012 VMA Rehearsal

As a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, Lil Wayne has witnessed some pretty huge moments at Staples Center, but on Thursday night, Weezy will make Staples Center history when he takes the stage at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. On Tuesday (September 4) it was announced that Tunechi will pick up where he left off with his rocked-out, curtain-closing 2011 VMA set. MTV News couldn't wait for the live main show Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT, so we crashed the VMA-nominated Weezy's rehearsal on Monday, a day before his performance was even announced, and took it all in. The rap superstar was in high spirits, skating around the Staples Center floor on his board as the production crew added some finishing touches to his set. Wayne's security team ironed out last-minute details while his manager Cortez Bryant launched messages from his iPhone trying to coordinate the release of of Tune's Dedication 4 mixtape, which hit the Net on Monday. The release was particularity important considering it houses "No Worries," the track that the multiplatinum rapper will perform for the first time during the big show. The house lights were going, the celebrity place cards were set in the stands and the Young Money king was rapping a mile a minute, imagining himself in front of the massive crowd. "You see Money right there, that's Tunechi right there, yeah, that's Mack Maine right there and we ain't got no worries," Weezy sung along to the hook that was booming out the house speakers. Check out behind-the-scenes photos of One Direction, Green Day and more at the 2012 VMAs! After a handful of practice runs, Wayne's security team alerted his driver to meet them outside of the Staples Center and Weezy just kick, pushed his way down the arenas curved halls, with a rock star's confidence.
