Steve Jackson Games Licenses Conan the Barbarian for Munchkin Expansion
File this one under things that were never expected. Over the weekend at Comicpalooza in Houston, Texas, Steve Jackson himself took the stage to announce the newest licensed Munchkin product. Conan the Barbarian will be coming to the world of Munchkin with a 15-card mini-expansion. "No one knows more about killing his foes and taking their stuff than Conan," said Munchkin Brand Manager Andrew Hackard. "The Paradox team are fans of Munchkin, and we love Conan, so this was a match decreed by the gods. The hardest part was cutting all the good stuff in the movie down to 15 cards."
Unlike the previous licensed property, Axe Cop, the Conan set will feature the artwork of Munchkin veteran John Kovalic. Also, each Conan card will have the standard Munchkin Fantasy backing so that it may be mixed in for play with that set. The new Conan set will be sold in non-random booster packs that contain every Conan card for $5.95 starting this fall. The release is timely given the August premiere of the new Conan the Barbarian movie in theaters.
