Beyoncé Addressed The Orlando Shooting With A Touching Dedication To The Victims’ Families

She's also getting her fans in formation for Flint

While a few celebrities spoke at vigils Monday (June 13) for the victims of the Orlando mass shooting, Beyoncé stuck to her usual strategy of keeping quiet on the issue until the perfect moment.

At her Detroit concert Tuesday night (June 14), the singer dedicated “Halo” to the families of the victims. She’s been closing out every concert on her Formation world tour with “Halo,” and last night she pointed out that it's a song about love — all kinds.

Beyoncé often faces criticism for staying reticent in times of national distress, but often her actions speak louder than any words she could immediately offer. Her Detroit concert was a perfect example for another reason: Her company Parkwood Entertainment recently donated more than $82,000 from tour proceeds to nearby Flint, Michigan, to help the city recover from pollution that’s tainted its drinking water with toxic chemicals.

Beyoncé isn’t one to comment much on politics, but when she does, it goes a long way.
