This Kid Waited Seven Years Between Tweets, All For A Joke
Patience may be a virtue for some, but for Twitter user @MarcusLepage, it's his superpower.
On April 26, 2009, he tweeted, "Going to sleep," and didn't tweet again until yesterday (April 12). He set up a joke that would take seven — SEVEN — years to get to the punch line.
Slow clap for you, Marcus. The Internet is loving your dedication right now.
Except that Marcus didn't stop there. He tweeted one more time.
And people were quick with the jokes.
Metro.co.uk managed to get hold of Marcus, who wasn't ready to throw in the towel on his joke just yet. When asked why seven years instead of, say, five, he joked, "Did God wait til the fifth or seventh day to rest?"
But, like most things on the Internet, LePage isn't the first person to attempt this joke. A Twitter user with the handle @dub, whose account is now suspended, tweeted he was "Chillin" on December 22, 2006, and then didn't tweet again until June 16, 2015, when he said, "Jus got done chillin," then, later: "I didn’t even realise I was chillin for 8 years."
Bravo, guys. This is what your tweets are reminiscent of, FYI.
