Audiences lapped up Antonio Banderas' breakout character of Puss in Boots from 2004's "Shrek 2," so the star couldn't be happier now that he's heading back into the recording booth for three more appearances as the doe-eyed feline. "Tomorrow I'm going to do my first session of recording for him," the "Mask of Zorro" star said earlier this week. "The story and the recording of the 'Shrek' [films] is very open. We improvise a lot, and many new things come [during] every session, and then they take all of that material and put it together with the animation." It was this experimental, throw-everything-at-the-wall process that resulted in some of the best Puss moments in "Shrek 2," so the giddy Banderas was happy to clue us in on a few potential ideas: "We will have the ['Puss in Boots' spinoff] movie -- it is interesting to do a movie only with the character -- called 'Puss in Boots: The Story of an Ogre Killer.' It would be between the third and the fourth 'Shrek.' And in the fourth 'Shrek,' I think, I'm going to play two characters: I'm going to play Puss in Boots and his badass brother. So I will have to invent another voice for him." The next movie (which will co-star Justin Timberlake) will be titled "Shrek the Third" and is due in theaters May 2007; the Puss in Boots flick and "Shrek 4" are still awaiting release dates. ...

Rob Schneider has made a career out of playing "Deuce Bigalow" and other goofy, dim characters who are in over their heads. After more a few dozen movies and TV shows, however, Schneider promises he won't be over his head when he directs his first movie next month. "It's going to be bad-ass," Schneider reported of "Big Stan," a comedy that he will also star in. "It's about a guy who's a jerk and who's gotta go to prison, and is worried about what's going to happen to him when he gets there. He hires a master to toughen him up, and it's David Carradine from 'Kill Bill' and of course 'Kung Fu,' and he's hilarious." Breaking more casting news, Schneider listed a few other veteran character actors: "M. Emmet Walsh, Henry Gibson, ['Sweet Home Alabama' star] Melanie Lynskey, Scott Wilson. It's going to be a good cast." Schneider added that years of watching directors has prepared him to step behind the camera himself, and a few weeks with a real-life martial-arts master has him ready for his on-camera heroics. "I'm doing karate training. I'm training with Dan Inosanto, who taught Bruce Lee the nunchucks; this guy is incredible. I'm doing this," he laughed, demonstrating a nunchuck move, "but, of course, it's gonna be soap on a rope." ...

You can't write it, you can't say it -- but soon, you'll be able to see it. Everyone's favorite four-letter (or one-letter-and-three-hyphens) word, "F---", will soon be screaming from theater marquees nationwide, after a successful debut at the South by Southwest Film Festival. This week, distributor ThinkFilm acquired the rights to the provocative new movie by documentary filmmaker Steve Anderson, which features interviews with people who make a living rapping it (Ice-T), saying it (Kevin Smith) and even doing it (Ron Jeremy). Exploring the origins of the four-letter word and its evolution in movies, TV and music, the "Aristocrats"-like flick also includes such random F-word enthusiasts as Drew Carey, Alanis Morissette, and even Sam Donaldson. "F---" will be released in theaters later this year, followed by a Showtime debut sometime in 2007. ...

Nineteen-year-old Josh Peck made a name for himself on TV's "Drake and Josh," but blew critics and fans away with considerable dramatic chops in the 2004 indie "Mean Creek." Soon, Peck's harder edge will once again be on display, thanks to a buzz-worthy superhero flick. "I have this movie 'Special' coming out with Michael Rapaport, that just went to the Sundance Film Festival," Peck said of the film that some have described as "Superman" meets "Jackass," which focuses on a meter maid whose prescription drugs give him super powers. "That, hopefully, will be distributed sometime this year, and that's the direction hopefully I'm going in. I respect that [dramatic] aspect of my career so much, and hope that people continue to acknowledge and enjoy it so I can continue to deliver it." Peck plays a skeptical comic-book-store clerk in the quirky drama. ...

A stuffy wrestling mask isn't exactly an ideal accessory for those hot summer months, but Jack Black will now be pulling his out in the middle of the blockbuster season. "Nacho Libre" has been moved to a June 16 release, setting up the wrestling comedy for a smackdown with the still-sputtering "Fast and the Furious" franchise. Black will attempt to make audiences bust a turnbuckle in laughter with some help from the creative tag-teams behind "Napoleon Dynamite" and "School of Rock." ...

If you're a Vince Vaughn fan and you don't want to hear bad news, now might be the time for eyemuffs: his high-concept collaboration with "Three Kings" mastermind David O. Russell sounds like it's dead in the water. "That movie, I think, is falling apart," sighed "Slither" star Elizabeth Banks while discussing "The H Man Cometh," to which she was also attached. "It's a huge disappointment to me, personally and professionally ... I would have played the female lead opposite Vince. He would have played this surly radio host, and it's a really great story. David was just never quite happy with the script; he wrote 20 drafts. We were supposed to be shooting it in the fall but it just kept getting pushed, and I think ultimately Vince wanted to move on." Banks added that she will fill the opening with a replacement project that will be announced soon. ...

Building upon the dramatic cred she established with films like "The Good Girl" and the recent "Derailed," Jennifer Aniston is looking forward to joining forces with the reigning queen of drama, Meryl Streep. " 'Wanted' is still in development," she said expectantly of her upcoming crime thriller, about two prisoners plotting a jail break. "It's still in writing; being written. But it will be, hopefully, fantastic once it's finished." Aniston will dirty herself up as a cop framed for drug trafficking, and and 13-time Oscar nominee Streep is making plans to play her cellmate. "I'm thrilled," Aniston said of working with the "Adaptation" star. "She's lovely. Fantastic." ...

The "Harry Potter" and "Chronicles of Narnia" franchises have made superstars out of formerly no-name child actors like Daniel Radcliffe, and soon "The Spiderwick Chronicles" may follow their lead. A huge casting search has begun for Jared and Simon, the twin stars of the bestselling "Spiderwick" books to begin their big-screen adaptations in a few months. "We really are looking for an unknown pair of kids," director Mark Waters ("Mean Girls") said in a statement commencing his search. "The Web site has all the information you need to make your tape and mail it to us. You never know -- you might just be what we're looking for." Interested twins between the ages of 9 and 11 can check out SpiderwickCasting.com for their own opportunity to do battle with the fantasy series' ogres, goblins and dragons.
