The award recognizes Aguilera's ability to reach millions of people across a number of genres including pop, soul and R&B, according to a press release.

It's also been announced that she will take the stage at the show. "I am thrilled to announce that Christina Aguilera is joining Jason Aldean as a performer at the People's Choice Awards," executive producer Mark Burnett said in a statement. "Christina is one of my dearest friends and lights up literally every stage she steps onto. And I am so glad that I get to work with the amazing Jason Aldean again. I cannot wait to see these performances live on show night!"

Aguilera just wrapped up her three-season run on "The Voice" to pursue other opportunities. She took the stage on Tuesday, alongside Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green (who is also leaving the show) for a final performance, opting for Green Days' [article id="1699162"]"Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)."[/article] Back in November, she released her album Lotus.

She won't be the only person representing for "The Voice" on the show. Fellow mentor Adam Levine scored the most nominations, racking up six combined nods, including Favorite Band (Maroon 5), Song ("One More Night") and Album (Overexposed), not to mention Favorite Celebrity Judge and Competition TV Show for his work on NBC's "The Voice."

Other big nominees include Justin Bieber, Channing Tatum, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, One Direction, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Previously it had been announced that country star Jason Aldean has also been tapped to perform at the show, which airs on Wednesday, January 9 on CBS at 9 p.m. ET. Winners for the 39th People's Choice Awards are all picked by the fans.
