The 'Fantastic Beasts' Sequel Sounds Kinda Dark

The wizarding world is in danger again

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hasn't even hit theaters yet, and a sequel is already in production.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced Wednesday that the second movie in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy is currently in the works — with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling writing the script. Fantastic Beasts director David Yates will also be back at the helm. The film is slated for release on November 16, 2018.

Fantastic Beasts

Fantastic Beasts chronicles the adventures of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a magizoologist who studied at Hogwarts nearly a century before Harry, Hermione, and Ron entered the castle. The first film, which hits theaters this November, finds Newt in big trouble when he accidentally lets an array of magical creatures loose in 1926 New York — for all No-Majes to see.

According to Warner Bros., the second Fantastic Beasts film will move deeper into an "increasingly dark time for the wizarding world, where Newt and our other heroes have to decide on their allegiances."

Huh. It doesn't sound like Newt is going to be all that successful, does it?
