Snooki Reveals Beauty Secret: Cat Litter Facials

It's something like common knowledge that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has a cat thing. She was a leopard for Halloween. She's covered many an object with animal print, from purses to nails to slippers. She's even been known to rock more than a few cat-themed accessories at once (*achem* peep that technicolor one she's been sporting lately). We thought the next step might be a pet cat. Or if she's too busy developing products and promoting her business empire, perhaps a giant plushy cat friend for Crocadilly. But never, ever, EVER did we think the feline-o-phile would go this far. Snooks appeared on Conan earlier this week applauding the beauty benefits of cat litter. Yes, CAT LITTER, PEOPLE.

The unusual pearl of beauty wisdom comes straight from her latest book release, Confessions of a Guidette, and is one of a great many life-changing tips found inked on those pages. In her interview with Conan, she explains how she discovered the alt beauty technique: "I like to Google a lot. And I don’t like to spend a lot of money on spa treatments, just because I’m, like, a cheapo. So I Googled what else I could use that’s, like, not so expensive, and it was cat litter!” We, too, like to Google a lot and can confirm that, while there ARE other homemade spa treatment options out there that involve more quote-unquote normal ingredients like lemon and sugar and honey (sidenote: nomnomnom), the cat litter facial does, in fact, exist as a relatively common practice. Snooks mixes the kitty potty stuffs with water and uses it as a pore cleansing exfoliant which also doubles as a clay mask (take THAT, Shiseido). As with most alternative method practices, there are risks, though, as there's some debate over whether the inhalation of dust from some clumping cat litters poses serious health risks, so be careful and think safe, frugalistas!
