Spice Girls Producer Jerkins Promises "Urban" Feel On New Album

Producer Rodney Jerkins could wind up with a Record of the Year Grammy compliments of his work with Brandy and Monica on the hit "The Boy Is Mine," a song that has already earned him at least one award.

Jerkins has been picked by the Spice Girls to work on the foursome's next pop offering.

[article id="1446248"]"I went out to dinner with a couple of the Spice Girls about a month and a half ago and they told me that they want me to, you know, do some work on their album, so I'm planning on going to London at the end of January, early February to work on the album, so it should be cool. I'm ready for it," [28.8 RealVideo][/article] Jerkins told MTV News recently of his union with the Girls.

The producer went on to say that he hopes to bring an "urban, danceable" feel to the Spice Girls project, adding, "It will still have a pop appeal, but the beats will be a little harder." There is word that production whiz Timbaland may also contribute to the project.

The album, currently untitled, is not set for release until later this year.
