Edgar Wright’s much-beloved "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," based on the hit graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley, turns a whopping five years young this month. While it’ll forever be tragic that it underperformed at the box-office, the best video game movie not based on a video game remains a cult favorite that will undoubtedly live on in our hearts. 😇

To celebrate this anniversary, we’re ranking all of Ramona Flowers’ Evil Exes, Scott’s mortal enemies and the obstacles to winning Ramona’s heart forever, from worst to best.

Matthew Patel

Ramona’s first evil ex is also the most pathetic and thus bottom of the least. Let’s be honest, joining a coalition of evil exes to seek revenge on a girl you kissed twice in middle school is creeper central. That being said, most of us can relate to the adolescent heartbreak that subsequently informs our fashion sense in high school. He does at least earn some karma points by warning Scott about the terrors of the League of Ramona’s Evil Exes ahead of time.

Kyle & Ken Katayanagi

As sad as Matthew Patel is, Kyle and Ken aren’t so great themselves (yes, they count as just one entry). Not only was Ramona able to play them both like fiddles at the same time, but they don’t even blame each other: they blame her. Granted, their brotherly bond in that instance is something, I suppose. Still, while Ramona is a definite heartbreaker and shouldn’t have done as she did, their ignorance – whether purposeful or unintentional – is unforgiveable.

Roxy Richter

For all intents and purposes, Roxy seems pretty cool if insecure about herself. Ramona and Roxy seem to have been a brief “phase,” as they put it, and Roxy doesn’t seem to be all that broken up by Ramona and more just there out of obligation. The fact that she’s a half-ninja also works in her favor, nevermind that she taught Ramona everything she knows as far as ninja-stuff goes.

Gideon Graves

Being the leader of the League of Ramona’s Evil Exes counts for something, right? So what if he accidentally created it via Craigslist while drunk? It’s an impressive feat, any way you slice it. As such, his battle with Scott is indeed the most epic and the closest Scott ever comes to defeat.

However, I’ll admit to giving Gideon some extra credit for being so magnificently rendered by Jason Schwartzman.

Todd Ingram

Behold, powers of Vegan! Todd is actually one of the worst human beings in the League of Ramona’s Evil Exes (especially if you consider some subplots of the books that were nixed from the movie), and yet, Brandon Routh’s narcissistic faux-Vegan jerk is one of the most delightful elements of the movie. He also gets bonus points for being a musician, acting as bass player in The Clash at Demonhead. Bass players never get enough credit.

Lucas Lee

Lucas Lee, undoubtedly the sexiest of all of Ramona’s Evil Exes, is also, not coincidentally, the greatest in the League. A skater-turned-action star, Lucas is also the coolest and probably the most sympathetic of the seven exes, having been cheated on by Ramona their freshman year of high school. He’s the classic example of the introverted high schooler that winds up becoming a superstar to show up all of the people that wronged him. We can all understand that, right?

Unfortunately, Lucas becomes misguided along the way and winds up at odds with our hero.
