‘The Mindy Project’ Kicks Off With Stripping, Criminals and Tiaras

A lesson on telling the truth, Mindy style

It’s the greatest time of the year! No, I’m not talking about the holidays: Fall TV is back! And one of our favorite sitcoms starring the boy-crazy and hilarious Mindy Lahari (played by Mindy Kaling) has returned to fill the empty void of Tuesday nights.

Following the finale’s grand gesture of love between Mindy and Danny (Chris Messina), the third season finds our favorite OB/GYNs post-Happily Ever After and navigating the waters of an office relationship, while their stubborn personalities seem to clash. With the title fittingly named “We’re a Couple Now, Haters!”, Mindy can’t stop spilling all the details of her and Dr. C’s sex sessions. While the uptight, Catholic Danny isn’t exactly open to sharing the (pink and diamond-y) skeletons in his closet.

Amidst the chaos of strippers, convict cousins and tiaras this week, we learn a lesson about telling the truth and being open with the people we care about. Kind of sweet, huh?

Here are all the hysterical and heartwarming moments in GIFs:

Mindy And Danny

From Boston songs that turn him on to the “Staten Island Handshake” that made her pass out, Dr. L has no problem over-sharing. While balancing romance and work can be tricky, things are going great. After all, "What is a relationship, if not doing things you hate in between sex sessions?"

But Mindy discovers a questionable pink thong in Danny’s drawer, and instead of acting jealous, she tries to get Danny to talk about it, who firmly resists, which only makes her feel worse, i.e., start to panic.

Luckily Mindy’s co-worker and ex-convict Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) is here to help her discover a secret exotic past.

And convince Dr. C, maybe the truth will set him free? Because only Batman can have as many secrets.

Danny confesses to being Diamond Dan the male stripper to pay off medical school, and Mindy soon realizes this isn’t a bad thing at all (*rewinds DVR*).

Who knew he had it in him?!

Jeremy And Peter

Peter (Adam Pally) is finally dating someone Mindy doesn’t want to strangle and doesn’t say “Oh my God” at the beginning of every sentence, but the poor schlub just can’t catch a break, and drama starts when handsome co-worker Jeremy (Ed Weeks) swoops in to work with his girl on a new charity initiative.

Hopefully, it's returnable.

Good thing Tamra was there to film their brawl.
