"It's kind of crazy," Johansson said. "It's the new Michael Bay ('Pearl Harbor,' 'Armageddon') film and it's a huge science-fiction production, something I've never done before. Ewan McGregor, who happens to be the greatest guy in the world, is in it, and it's been a month of running and dashing all over the place and explosions and all that great stuff. But the script is really, really solid. It's kind of like a psychological science-fiction thriller romance. Can I say that again? Probably not." Sean Bean ("National Treasure") recently joined "The Island," about a harvested being and his attempt to escape the utopia where he lives. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who recently denied involvement in another "Terminator" movie, has agreed to appear in his first movie since becoming governor of California. Schwarzenegger will make a cameo in "The Kid & I," which his friend Tom Arnold wrote and is producing and starring in. Penelope Spheeris ("Wayne's World") is directing the movie, about an actor (Arnold) and a teen stricken with cerebral palsy who dreams of being an action hero. Joe Mantegna and Shannon Elizabeth co-star, and Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred alongside Schwarzenegger and Arnold in 1994's "True Lies," will also make a cameo. ...

Mischa Barton of "The O.C." is in negotiations to star in a big-screen adaptation of the 14th century literary classic "The Decameron." Barton, who is shooting "The OH in Ohio" during her holiday break from the show, will play Pampinea in the storyline about Florentines who take refuge in the Italian countryside as the black plague destroys the city. ... Pierce Brosnan's next movie, "The Matador," will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. "It's a black comedy," Brosnan said of the movie, about an unusual encounter between a hit man (Brosnan) and a businessman (Greg Kinnear) in Mexico City. "I studied films [about hit men] and went to criminal psychologists and talked about it." ...

Alec Baldwin has joined the cast of "Fun With Dick and Jane" with Jim Carrey and Téa Leoni, which the latter called "fun with Jim and Téa." "We're having a blast on this movie," Leoni said. "It's funny, I'm doing two comedies back-to-back [after 'Spanglish'], but I'm loving it. It's a real adventure with Jim. He's wild." ... Baldwin is also in negotiations to star as a basketball coach in "Street," about a group of street players recruited to play for an NBA team whose owner has slashed player salaries. Captain Dale Dye, who has worked as a military advisor on dozens of movies, including "Saving Private Ryan," "Rules of Engagement" and "Alexander" (where he also directed the second unit), plans to direct his own movie. "I've gone to school for 20 years now with Oliver Stone, Steven Spielberg, Brian De Palma, and I've considered that a college," he said. First, though, Dye will re-team with "Band of Brothers" creators Tom Hanks and Spielberg on another series for HBO, this one focusing on the battle with the Japanese in the Pacific during World War II. ...

Chris Cooper, who won acclaim for his role in Sam Mendes' "American Beauty," has joined the cast of Mendes' next movie, "Jarhead." Cooper will play an officer in charge of an elite sniper unit in the movie, based on Marine Anthony Swofford's memoir of his experiences in the Gulf War and co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx and Peter Sarsgaard. ... Up-and-comer Christopher Marquette, who plays a member of Justin Timberlake's character's gang in "Alpha Dog," has joined Ryan Reynolds and Anna Farris in the cast of the romantic comedy "Just Friends." Marquette is also playing the brother of a teenage assassin who terrorizes a high school in "American Gun," a drama with Donald Sutherland, Marcia Gay Harden and Forest Whitaker featuring a series of interwoven storylines about the proliferation of guns in America. ... Hoping to profit from more kids on summer break, Pixar has moved "Cars" from November 2005 to June 2006. Meanwhile, DreamWorks has postponed the release of "Shrek 3" from November 2006 to May 2007. ...
