Will We See Another Wu-Tang Clan Album? We Asked Raekwon

Find out why Rae will 'never close the door' on the Wu.

While Raekwon was crafting his Fly International Luxurious Art album, which was released on Tuesday, Apr. 28, the MC took time out to record Wu-Tang Clan’s latest project, A Better Tomorrow. Months after its release, Rae criticized the album, calling it "too soft." But don't think that means it's the end for the legendary Staten Island group.

"I never close the door on what we’re capable of doing,” Rae told MTV News’ Rob Markman on Thursday. “Being that everybody wasn’t so fully happy about this last project, yeah, it’s a possibility that you’ll get another one real soon, hopefully. I think we just gotta wait and see.

"We’ve been doing it for a long time, too, as a crew. So, everybody’s mind is in a different place,” the Chef added. "When we come together, I always want it to be 100 percent dedication and time within that album. That’s always been a problem because there’s so many of us."

The group didn’t have those same problems when they first burst on the scene with 1993’s classic Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). "Not really having the responsibilities that we have now, it was definitely easier,” he said. "It’s hard to get us all at the same time [now] and say, ‘Lock out.'”

Although Raekwon and RZA didn’t seem to see eye-to-eye on A Better Tomorrow before its release, The Chef said there’s no bad blood between the longtime collaborators. He also doesn't place blame on RZA.

"I don’t ever want nobody to ever think that everything is RZA’s fault based on that album not being what that we expected,” he added. "It was just that everybody was just all over the place."

For now, Raekwon’s focusing on his latest release, Fly International Luxurious Art, which features guest spots from Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and Ghostface Killah. “My career’s evolving,” Rae said of his new album, describing it as having a "stadium sound." “I just went up there with my pen game and my mind and started brainstorming."
