Q-Tip Eyes Film Musical

A Tribe Called Quest will kick off its opening stint for the Beastie Boys with the launch of that group's U.S. tour tonight in Seattle, but rapper Q-Tip is already sizing up his post-road plans.

The rapper is in talks with a film studio to collaborate on a musical film with writer-director Darnell Martin, who helmed "I Like It Like That," according to "The Hollywood Reporter.

As part of the deal, Q-Tip would co-write the screenplay and supervise the score and soundtrack of the film, which tells the story of one man's rise from poverty and imprisonment.

The cinematic world is nothing new to Q-Tip, who recently finished up acting in another film, "Love Goggles," in which he played a nightclub host (see [article id="1432933"]"Q-Tip, Sticky Fingers To Wear 'Love Goggles'"[/article]).

A Tribe Called Quest will release its fifth album, "The Love Movement," on August 25.
