In-Your-Face Party Animal Andrew W.K. Claims To Be Shy

Rocker's latest single is about overcoming fear of talking to girls.

There's more to Andrew W.K. than partying, and the exuberant singer aims to

prove it by releasing "She Is Beautiful" as his next single.

Rather than follow-up the breakthrough hit "Party Hard" with, say, "Party

'Til You Puke" or "It's Time to Party," W.K. is showing his sensitive side.

"It's a song about, most importantly, trying not to be afraid, realizing

there is a lot to be afraid about, including talking to a girl," the

dirty-white-T-shirt-and-jeans-wearing rocker said at Saturday's MTV Movie

Awards taping, where he served as a fashion expert for the post-show

program. "I am very shy sometimes, especially when I was younger. I still

get scared. I think everybody does. So it's about saying, 'You know what? I

only live once.' "

Staring intensely down a camera lens, he added, "It's very simple stuff. You

all know this stuff, just sometimes you need to remind yourself."

W.K. recently filmed a video for "She Is Beautiful" with Alexander Kosta,

who also directed the "Party Hard" clip.

"The video is based in a house, a humble arts and crafts home my dad would

approve of," W.K. explained. "I'm running amuck through the whole thing. I

make a milkshake and drink it down. I get out of bed basically just trying

to sing a song and have some fun."

OK, so maybe he can't entirely escape his party tendencies. That'll be a

good thing this summer, though, as W.K. will be part of two of the biggest

traveling bashes, Ozzfest and the Vans Warped Tour.

"To have so many people together and seeing awesome bands, the energy level

is going to be insane," W.K. said of the tours. "We're going to step it up."
