Fabolous Loves 'Barbershop Talk' Of 'Hottest MCs' List, Kanye's Reaction

'When he brought up the TV, that was hilarious,' Fab tells MTV News of West's protest.

When it comes to MTV News' annual "Hottest MCs in the Game" list, Fabolous doesn't get too wound up.

"It's really just a conversation between a roundtable of people and their opinions, so I don't know why people get so bent out of shape. You can make your comment, but don't take it to heart," he told MTV News on Sunday, when he was out in Malibu with Chris Brown shooting a video for his current single [article id="1703490"]"Ready."[/article]

Loso said he thinks the "Hottest MCs" discussion is a great thing and likened the yearly debate to "barbershop talk." He also finds the subsequent reactions entertaining, especially [article id="1703078"]Kanye West's protest of his #7 spot[/article] and his revelation that he once [article id="1703156"]gifted "Hottest MCs" moderator Sway Calloway[/article] with a television set. "Kanye's was hilarious; when he brought up the TV, that was hilarious," Fab said with a chuckle.

Fab didn't offer much in the way of debate, but spoke in support of this year's [article id="1703255"]"Hottest MC"[/article] Kendrick Lamar. "I think Kendrick had a great year, I think he's a talent, I think he's a dope artist, I think he brings a unique sound. His album was a sonic body of work," Loso said of K-Dot's good kid, m.A.A.d city LP. "Everybody doesn't always live up to the anticipation and the pressure of you being a hot artist in the game at the time. So I think Kendrick did a good job of not letting that interfere with him and not going against what he does."

Next up for Fab is Loso's Way 2, a sequel to his 2009 LP, Loso's Way, so it isn't inconceivable that he could end up on next year's "Hottest MCs" list. "Only thing I would let it do is motivate me to make sure that my work gets recognized," he said.
