Guillermo Del Toro: 'Hulk' TV Show's Pace Has Been 'Very Frustrating'

Before we knew of Sir Joss Whedon and his plans for a "S.H.I.E.L.D." television show, there was another Marvel property, of equal awesomeness, up for the TV treatment.

Guillermo del Toro had been developing a series for Bruce Banner and his angrier side before "The Avengers" reminded the world of how badass the Hulk can be. But when Mark Ruffalo convinced everyone that he was the man for the job, the future of the project became unclear.

After a long silence from del Toro, we sat down with the director to see where things stand with Marvel and a potential TV treatment. Last we heard, he was waiting for a writer, but now the outlook is not bright for the mean green machine.

"I met with Jeph Loeb after 'Avengers,' but after that meeting, there's been complete radio silence on the show. It's very frustrating for me and for the fans that we don't know," del Toro said during our interview for the film "Mama." "I haven't heard anything in months about the show, but obviously 'Avengers' is a game-changer for Marvel. It's their property, and if I don't make it, at least I'll watch it."

With filming for the "S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot already underway, it doesn't seem like we'll be seeing Bruce and/or David Banner on the small screen any time soon. If it does happen, however, here's hoping that del Toro handles it. That man deserves his Hulk TV show.
