Louis Tomlinson Has 'Faith In The Future' For His Upcoming Album

The pop singer will drop his second LP on November 11

Back in 2019, Louis Tomlinson dropped a single reflecting back on how “we made it” — and three years later, he’s looking ahead instead of behind him. Today (August 31), he announced he will be dropping his newest studio album, Faith in the Future, this fall on November 11.

The former One Directioner took to Twitter to unveil the album cover and 14-song tracklist and showed appreciation to his fans. “After living with this album for a while I can’t wait for you all to hear it,” Tomlinson said. “Thank you for allowing me to make the music I want to make.”

The track titles offer a peek into Tomlinson’s headspace during the making of the LP: “Face the Music” and “Out of My System” point to a kind of new beginning, while a pair called “She Is Beauty We Are World Class” and “Angels Fly” suggest the sort of stadium grandeur we know he’s capable of. And as ever, there’s one that (perhaps incidental) nods to his Britpop roots — “Common People.”

“The kind of music that I love listening to is music that's got big guitars in it, but also a big chorus that you can sing along to,” he told MTV News in 2020. Will his sophomore album follow suit, or will it find him experimenting in as-yet untold directions?

Faith in the Future is currently available to pre-order both in vinyl and CD, and the deluxe edition includes a zine. His official store lists multiple versions of the vinyl, one of which is an exclusive limited 2LP edition that features two additional tracks: "Headline” and “Holding on to Heartache.” There will also be an exclusive Record Store Day (April 15) limited edition vinyl featuring “black & red splatter.” Three versions of limited cassette tapes of the album are also available pre-order in the store.

The album will follow Tomlinson’s debut solo studio album, Walls, which was released in January 2020. It peaked at No. 9 in the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and charted No. 1 in Mexico, Argentina, Portugal, and Scotland.
