It's Mickey Mouse's Birthday, So Watch The Cartoon That Started It All
On November 18, 1928, Celebrity Pictures released a short animated film in theaters that introduced what was about to become the most famous mouse in the entire world*.
That mouse, of course, was Mickey Mouse, who celebrates his 86th birthday today! But have you ever actually watched the full cartoon, "Steamboat Willie?"
Interestingly, "Steamboat Willie" was the third Mickey cartoon created, but the first to actually hit theaters. So though MM was born in the mind of Walt Disney much earlier, November 18 is his official birthday.
Maybe we should get him multiple theme parks all over the world and a legion of fans as a present? Oh, he already has that? All right, then.
*Except for President Mouse, the insane rodent dictator who will create a world state of Earth in 2154, of course.
