After more than 30 years of anticipation, admirers of Terry Brooks’ best-selling "Shannara" books finally got to see the legendary story come to life on Friday (July 10): MTV's highly anticipated "The Shannara Chronicles" was unveiled during a San Diego Comic-Con panel discussion with series stars Poppy Drayton, Ivana Baquero, Austin Butler, Manu Bennett and John Rhys-Davies, plus executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar and Brooks himself. Be prepared to cheer when you see the Ellcrys in the clip below — all of the fans in the room certainly did.

During the candid conversation, the cast, production team and author (who's also serving as an executive producer on "TSC") all expressed their deep level of pride in the upcoming fantasy program. Here are eight of the most touching, inspiring and truly epic moments from the sit-down:

Brooks explains the vow he has continually made to his loyalists.

"I promised my readers, over the years faithfully, that I would not betray their trust in the integrity of the book by giving it away to someone who was going to wreck it," the author stated about adapting his work for the big or small screen. "And the only way to really do that is to be actively involved in the process. Luckily, Al and Miles were very willing to work with me."

Bennett describes the incredible relationship he has with his "Brad Pitt-lookalike" co-star Butler.

Shortly after meeting on set, the two bonded over their personal lives (they've both lost their mothers), and "The Hobbit" star couldn't help but gush that the 23-year-old has a "heart of gold." AWWWWWW.

Rhys-Davies gives a special shout-out to an erstwhile co-star.

"I would like to address this to a certain elf that I worked with on a different show…from dwarf to elf-king! Eat your heart out, Orlando Bloom," King Eventine's alter ego declared about Legolas from "The Lord of The Rings." Now that's epic.

Drayton reveals why the elf ears sometimes resembled a popular fish.

More specifically, the protagonist of "Finding Nemo" (the actress said the accessories would sometimes become crooked and look like the fictional sea creature's fins).

Bennett and Brooks share a Hongi.

Also known as the traditional greeting in New Zealand (where the actor hails from and where the series was filmed), the Hongi is done by pressing one's nose and forehead to another person's (as seen above!).

The victim of an on-set horse-riding injury is ID'd.

And the unlucky actor is...the Elven Princess herself! And while Drayton's eye ball was bleeding (OUCH), the British starlet made a full recovery.

The audience offers supportive -- yet blunt -- words.

While one spectator gushed that "The Sword of Shannara" was the first tome he ever read (and Brooks was his first literary steady), another fan had a bit of advice for the executive producers: "Al and Miles, please don't screw this up." Naturally, the crowd roared in response.

One youngster gets the photo-op of a lifetime.

This audience member was invited on the stage and got to pose with the ensemble. A lasting memory, for sure.
