Lady Gaga's New Song 'The Edge Of Glory' Is Total 'TOP GUN' Material!

It's no shock to anyone by now that Lady Gaga is always surprising people. Reactions toward her leaked and released songs off her upcoming album, Born This Way, have run the gamut between "OMG this the greatest thing ever!" and "Um, what?" And that's probably exactly the way Gaga wants it.

Her newest track, "The Edge Of Glory" sounds like it was recorded specifically for the purpose of producing mixed reactions. After the super-poppy "Born This Way" and the electro-goth "Judas," "The Edge Of Glory" takes us in a whole new direction -- a whole new, 1980s-action-movie-theme-song direction. "The Edge of Glory" isn't just a song, it's an anthem -- it's like the "Saved By The Bell: The College Years" theme song had a baby with the movie Top Gun (specifically with the Kenny Loggins song "Danger Zone," seen below) and the ob-gyn was an American Bald Eagle wearing a Statue of Liberty costume while power-chugging a bucket of testosterone and alternating between jumping rope and hitting a punching bag really fast. This song is HUGE. It's the biggest thing since the MacGruber theme song.

But one would need a huge song to accompany a huge SAX SOLO!!! You read that right. Lady Gaga enlisted the help of Clarence Clemons of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band to record a saxophone solo on "The Edge Of Glory," and thank you, Lady Gaga, for reminding us that sax solos are THE BEST. Appropriate in any and all situations. Always.
