'Sons Of Anarchy' Just Killed Everyone We Love, And All We Got Is This Lousy Piece Of Pie
Warning: "Sons of Anarchy" Spoilers Ahead!
If there's only one word we can safely use to describe the final season of "Sons of Anarchy," then "brutal" is the one that comes to mind. Following Gemma Morrow's horrific murder of her son Jax's wife, Tara Knowles, at the end of last season, an avalanche of blood has flowed down from mountain high into the streets of Charming, killing minor and major characters alike.
We suffered what seemed like the biggest blow of the season a few episodes ago, when poor Bobby Elvis lost an eye, lost his fingers, and lost his life.
But last night's penultimate episode, "Red Rose," took things to an entirely new level. For one, we finally lost Juice Ortiz, who assisted Gemma in covering up Tara's death and blaming the Lin Triad.
Juice finally accepted his fate, offering himself as a sacrifice to keep his club in good standing with the Aryan Brotherhood. In the end, it was Marilyn Manson who drove a scalpel through Juice's neck, over and over and over again.
Not traumatic enough? It gets worse. After Juice's death, we lost another longtime "Sons" cast member…
…Wayne Unser. He made the fatal mistake of literally standing between Jax and vengeance against Gemma. When he refused to let Jax kill his own mother (not to mention the love of Wayne's life), Jax pulled the trigger and killed his old ally in cold blood.
But wait! There's more! With Wayne out of the way, Jax was free to shoot his own mom. He was having a hard time accepting what he had to do, but Gemma coached him through it. "You have to do this," she said. "It's who we are, sweetheart."
And with that, Jax does what mommy tells him.
So, there you have it. Juice? Dead. Unser? Dead. Gemma? Dead.
Jax? Somehow, still alive. However, it doesn't look like he will be for long. In the episode, the various Sons presidents agreed that a Mayhem vote needs to land on Jax, for wrongfully killing Jury some episodes back. Jax seemed to accept his fate.
Will Jax take his final ride into oblivion during next week's series finale, or will he weasel his way out of the deadly situation he put himself in? Only one week left to find out.
