More 'Star Wars' In 3-D Hitting the Theatrical Release Calendar

Don't look now, people, but 2013 just officially became 2013-D, as George Lucas has announced via the "Star Wars" Facebook page that "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" will be getting back-to-back 3-D re-releases next year.

That sound you hear is the sound of calendars being marked across the globe.

"Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," you may recall, was re-released in 3-D back in February, with excellent results: Not only did it earn a another boatload of cash for Lucas (over $100 million worldwide) but, thanks to the fact that much of the film was created digitally in the first place, the 3-D transfer looked great too.

And now fans have not one, but two more 3-D re-releases to look forward to, as "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" will hit theaters on September 20, 2013, followed almost immediately by "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" on October 11, 2013.

No word yet on when the original trilogy will make its way back onto the big screen, but we have a feeling it won't be long. Because where there are Sith, there must surely be Jedi waiting to provide the world with a new hope.

Looks like the force is with us all.
