After weeks of speculation, it appears the rumors are true: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's engagement is reportedly back on.

A source close to Miley told People, “Miley is beyond happy to be engaged to Liam again. It might seem sudden, but they have been very close for the past few months.

“They just wanted to keep their relationship out of the spotlight while they figured things out,” the source continued. “Liam never liked how exposed his life was with Miley.”

The pair recently spent the holidays together in Liam’s native Australia, hinting at their rekindled romance. More clues emerged over the past week, when Miley was seen moving into Liam’s home, and when she posted a series of Instagram pics that showed off what appeared to be an engagement ring.

Miley and Liam began dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of “The Last Song.” They announced their engagement in 2012, but split up a year later. However, the two reunited briefly in November 2015, when Miley helped Liam pick out a dog from a pet center in Los Angeles.

“Miley wants to get married,” the source added to People. “His family was very hesitant about a marriage in the past, but they really got to know Miley better when she spent time in Australia a few weeks ago. Everyone seems excited that they are back together.”
