Jennifer Hudson Ready 'To Get On With Her Life,' Says Clive Davis

As Hudson rehearses for pre-Grammy party, Davis says she's dedicated to making her late mother proud.

After [artist id="2481017"]Jennifer Hudson's[/artist] soaring (prerecorded) rendition of the national anthem at the [article id="1604035"]Super Bowl[/article], her first public appearance since her family tragedy, the singer's got an even bigger weekend ahead of her. The Oscar winner is up for [article id="1603006"]four awards at the Grammys[/article], where she'll also be performing. And before all that, she'll warm up on Saturday night with an appearance at [article id="1604438"]Clive Davis' annual Pre-Grammy Gala[/article].

When MTV News caught up with Davis on Thursday, Hudson was rehearsing her Grammy-nominated song "Spotlight." The legendary music mogul spoke about how Hudson is doing in the wake of the tragedy she faced last fall when her [article id="1601983"]mother, nephew and brother were murdered[/article].

"She's coped internally. She's coped with her family," Sony Music's chief creative officer said. "I'm sure she's coped within her religion. I was there at the funeral. I think that she has ... to dig down deep, because this has been an indescribable tragedy."

Davis also said that he and Hudson have talked in-depth about the tragedy. He said she's ready to get back to work, which includes going on a [article id="1604135"]spring tour[/article] and releasing a [article id="1603838"]new music video for "If This Isn't Love."[/article]

"Through the dialogue we've had over this period, she knows she's got to get on with her life," Davis said. "She knows that she's dedicated to making her family, especially her mother, proud of her.

"I just saw her onstage doing a run-through of 'Spotlight,' and there's no mistaking that this is Miss Jennifer Hudson," he added. "We're all looking forward to Jennifer."
