Emma Stone Dishes On 'Easy A' Sex-Scene-Induced Asthma Attack
Considering the most-talked-about sex scene in "Easy A" doesn't actually involve any sex, it's no surprise there's a bit of a story behind it. If you've seen the film's trailers (and you definitely, definitely should), you'd have seen the clip where Emma Stone's character Olive is asked at a party to pretend to have sex with one of her guy friends so that the bullies at their high school will leave him alone.
The result is over-the-top hilariousness, with Emma and the guy jumping up and down on a bed yelling and moaning while the other partygoers listen on in interest. It's a pitch-perfect take on the high school rumor mill, but unfortunately Emma didn't have enough time to reflect on the social commentary because she was busy facing another awkward crisis that happens to many high schoolers.
We had heard a little rumor from the set; something about Emma hyperventilating during the filming of said fake sex scene and needing an oxygen tank to recover, so it only seemed fair that Emma fess up and set the record straight.
"Oh, for the love, I can't even simulate sex without dying!" she jokingly admitted. "I had a little asthma attack, without any prior knowledge that I had asthma, during the scene where we had to jump up and down for hours and hours screaming and yelling on the bed."
Since it was only the second day of shooting, Emma said the episode was humiliating, and she was worried about what the crew would think of her after that (so high school, yes?). "Here's what it's going to be like the whole movie, as I'm breathing into an oxygen tank," Emma said. "The crew was like, 'She's going to be a real blast. Wow. Amazing. A 20-year-old having an asthma attack.'"
Will you be seeing "Easy A" this weekend?
