On Tuesday night, Dr. Dre was caught off guard when leaving Hollywood's Boa Steakhouse. TMZ took the time to ask what West Coast rap veteran thought about 50 Cent's Twitter rant regarding the launch of his own headphone line, Sleek by 50. "I have no idea what you're talking about," Dre answered.
Dre had "no idea" that the Queens rapper was launching his own line of headphones, "Is he? I've never heard of his headphones," Dre said.
Earlier this week, Curtis Jackson took to Twitter to claim that the folks at Aftermath Records and Interscope, specifically Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, were upset about Sleek by 50.
"Jimmy Iovine and Dre [are] mad at me cause I'm doing Sleek by 50," 50 tweeted.
50 Cent even teased his followers with an alleged diss record abour Dr. Dre and Iovine, "Would you faint if I told you I just wrote a verse about Jimmy and Dre? Oh my god this is hard. This sh-- gonna kill," 50 tweeted. "I'm a little hurt [that] Jimmy and Dre feel like that but f**k it. I'm focused. I got a surprise for everybody this go round," 50 continued.
Is the drama real? Last month 50 Cent spoke to MTV News about Dr. Dre's long-awaited album, Detox, and previous collaborations.
"When you got a producer that has that kind of production track record, you even have to credit both Eminem's success and my success to Dr. Dre as a producer," 50 Cent told MTV News. "My first single off of Get Rich or Die Tryin' - people constantly tell me it was a classic - was produced by Dr. Dre, 'In Da Club.' Without that momentum from that song, I'm not sure they would have taken to 'P.I.M.P.' the same way or '21 Questions' or any of the other hit records I released following that."
