Lauren Conrad Reveals What It Was 'Really' Like Leaving 'The Hills'

From her dramatic departure to growing up in the spotlight, the former MTV star will tell all in a new E! special called 'Pop Innovators.'

Lauren Conrad's iconic "Hills" exit has earned a place in TV history -- who could forget those Jackie. O shades and that bright blue mini dress. But what was the Laguna gal thinking during that fateful trip into her limo the sunset after Speidi's wedding?

The newly minted Mrs. Tell will candidly dish about that precise moment, featured above, during E!'s "Pop Innovators," the network announced in a statement.

"It was almost like holding your breath for a really long time, and I finally just got to exhale," Lauren divulges about leaving the drama once and for all.

In addition, the California beauty -- who went on to build an empire as a fashion designer, best-selling author and lifestyle maven -- will address what it was like to be thrust into the spotlight during her teenage years and how she still struggles with stardom.

"You know, nobody really got it or understood, because it's not something you can understand until you've gone through it," she explains. "It's a decade later, and I'm still not used to it."

Those closest to LC -- including family members, friends and "Laguna Beach" creator Liz Gatley -- will also talk about her transformation from a lovable high school student into the pop culture phenom she has become. We're also hoping for some dirt about whether she and Heidi Montag have reunited during any boat bashes recently, but we'll keep dreaming...

Relive Lauren's "Hills" departure below and don't miss "Pop Innovators: Lauren Conrad" on Thursday, December 11 at 8/7c on E!
